New Netflix Docuseries on JonBenét Ramsey by Joe Berlinger Premieres

The tragic and unsolved case of JonBenét Ramsey, the young beauty queen whose murder shook the nation, continues to captivate audiences nearly three decades later. Director Joe Berlinger is delving into this haunting mystery in a new three-part series for Netflix titled "Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey."

Scheduled to premiere on November 25, the series will revisit the events of that fateful day after Christmas in 1996 when JonBenét went missing, only to be found later in the basement of her family home in Boulder, Colorado. The discovery of her lifeless body revealed a horrifying truth – she had been sexually assaulted and murdered. The subsequent investigation by the Boulder police quickly turned suspicion towards JonBenét’s own family, sparking a national obsession with the case that has endured for nearly three decades.

Berlinger, known for his work on true-crime documentaries like Netflix’s "Conversations with a Killer" series, aims to shed new light on the mishandling of the case by law enforcement and the media. Despite the passage of time, he believes that the mystery surrounding JonBenét’s murder can still be solved.

"Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey" will feature interviews with key figures from the original investigation, including JonBenét’s father, John Ramsey. The series will also explore the impact of the crime on the Ramsey family and the lasting legacy of the case on American culture.

This project is not the first to examine the JonBenét Ramsey case. Previous non-fiction works such as CBS’s "The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey" and A&E’s "The Killing of JonBenét: The Truth Uncovered" have delved into the details of the murder. Netflix also produced "Casting JonBenét," a dramatization of the events surrounding the case in 2017.

Berlinger expressed his commitment to uncovering the truth behind JonBenét’s death, stating, “Through unprecedented access and a comprehensive multi-year investigation, we reveal the deep flaws in how the case was originally handled, resulting in a sea of conspiracy theories that nearly destroyed the Ramsey family for a second time.”

With the upcoming release of "Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey," audiences can expect a fresh perspective on this enduring mystery and a renewed effort to bring justice to a case that has haunted the nation for decades.
