Hulu Secures U.S. Rights for ‘Paris Has Fallen’ Series at MIPCOM
Hulu has secured the U.S. rights to the action-packed series "Paris Has Fallen," a spinoff of the popular Gerard Butler "Has Fallen" film franchise. The TV drama is being produced by StudioCanal in collaboration with Urban Myth Films, Millennium Media, G-Base, and Eclectic Pictures. Initially premiering on Canal+ in France, Hulu is set to bring the show to American audiences later this year.
"Paris Has Fallen" follows the story of protection officer Vincent Taleb, played by Tewfik Jallab from "Spiral," as he safeguards a French Minister targeted by a terrorist group. Alongside MI6 operative Zara, portrayed by Ritu Arya from "Red Notice," they delve into a conspiracy that could potentially implicate one of their own.
Drawing inspiration from the successful film franchise, starring Gerard Butler as Secret Service agent Mike Banning, "Paris Has Fallen" is part of a series that includes "Olympus Has Fallen" (2013), "London Has Fallen" (2016), and "Angel Has Fallen" (2019). Collectively, these films have grossed over $500 million worldwide. While plans for a fourth installment titled "Night Has Fallen" have been announced, production for the film is yet to commence.
In addition to Hulu’s acquisition of the series for the U.S. market, Amazon Prime Video has secured the rights for the U.K. and Ireland, while SBS in Australia and ZDF in Germany, which also co-produced the show, have obtained the rights for their respective territories. This expansion of distribution highlights the global appeal and anticipation surrounding "Paris Has Fallen," promising an exciting viewing experience for audiences worldwide.
