Many WWE Shows Set to Leave Peacock Platform Soon
WWE fans can anticipate significant changes in the streaming landscape as Peacock, the wrestling organization’s long-time streaming partner, is set to lose a substantial portion of WWE content in the near future. According to information obtained by CinemaBlend, Peacock’s streaming library of Monday Night Raw is scheduled to expire on January 1st, 2025. Additionally, when NXT moves to The CW on October 1st, Peacock will also remove its catalog of the program. It remains unclear where these shows will be available for streaming next.
Peacock will, however, maintain the streaming rights for SmackDown as part of its existing five-year agreement with USA Network. Viewers can currently access the full past season of SmackDown on the platform, with new episodes becoming available for streaming 30 days after airing on USA. The platform will also continue to offer livestreaming of upcoming WWE PLEs as per the 2024 TV schedule, along with hosting Saturday Night Main Event, which will feature four shows annually. Additionally, previously produced WWE programming such as American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes and various wrestling documentaries will remain available on Peacock.
While the impending loss of Monday Night Raw and NXT content may disappoint some fans, Peacock’s retention of SmackDown and other WWE-related shows provides continued value for subscribers. Despite the changes, there will still be a variety of WWE content accessible with a Peacock Premium subscription. The evolving landscape of WWE streaming raises questions about the future availability of Monday Night Raw and NXT on other platforms. Speculations suggest potential deals with platforms like Netflix for the back catalog of Raw and new homes for NXT.
The increasing popularity of WWE, especially during what is being referred to as the Triple H Era, has positioned it as a sought-after entity in the streaming realm. As we approach 2025, the streaming outlook for WWE remains intriguing, particularly with significant events like John Cena’s retirement tour on the horizon. Wrestling enthusiasts may find themselves subscribing to multiple streaming services to keep up with the comprehensive WWE product.
For now, Peacock stands as the primary destination for WWE streaming, offering a range of past PLEs, shows, and festive wrestling-themed episodes. As the streaming landscape continues to evolve, fans are encouraged to make the most of the current offerings on Peacock before potential shifts in WWE content availability in the future.
