Prime Video recently unveiled its exciting U.K. sports lineup at a special event held in London, where they shared their plans for live coverage and documentaries, particularly highlighting their upcoming coverage of the UEFA Champions League.
The Prime Video Presents Sport showcase in London was a platform for announcing the addition of UEFA Champions League to its offerings, as well as providing insights into their NBA deal, the launch of NFL Game Pass as a Prime Video add-on subscription, and more.
Fans in the U.K. can look forward to enjoying the Champions League, which will be accessible to all Prime households in the country. The on-air team for the coverage includes host Gabby Logan, pundits Clarence Seedorf, Daniel Sturridge, and Josie Henning, with commentary from Jon Champion and Alan Shearer, along with pitch-side reporting by Gabriel Clarke and Alex Aljoe. Viewers with a discovery+ add-on subscription will have the flexibility to switch between Prime’s top-pick match and the remaining fixtures directly from the in-game feed.
In a significant global deal with the NBA, Prime Video subscribers in the U.K. will gain access to a minimum of 87 regular season games annually, along with a third of games in the first two rounds of the playoffs, all games from the postseason SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament, a Conference Finals series each year, and the final in six out of 11 years. This comprehensive package of over 100 NBA matches per year is set to kick off in 2025.
Moreover, Prime Video announced the availability of NFL Game Pass in the U.K. through a partnership with DAZN, priced at £29.99 per month.
The event also featured renowned athletes like Sir Kenny Dalglish, Frank Bruno, and Chris Eubank Snr., who presented Prime Video’s upcoming lineup of sports documentaries. The slate includes “King Kenny” featuring Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish and directed by Asif Kapadia, “Four Kings” delving into the intense rivalry between boxers Lennox Lewis and Frank Bruno and Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn, and “Sven” profiling Sven-Göran Eriksson.
