Netflix has unveiled a new trailer for “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft,” featuring an extended look at Hayley Atwell as the iconic archeologist Lara Croft. The trailer showcases plenty of action sequences, including Lara facing explosive situations like a plunge into the ocean, prompting the question of her perseverance. The anime series is set to premiere on October 10, with Atwell lending her voice to the title role.

The story picks up after the events of the Tomb Raider video game Survivor trilogy, following Lara Croft’s adventures in “Tomb Raider,” “Rise of the Tomb Raider,” and “Shadow of the Tomb Raider.” This new series will delve into the next chapter of the globetrotting heroine as she continues to explore ancient mysteries and uncover lost truths in breathtaking yet perilous locations.

In this installment, Lara Croft has distanced herself from her companions to embark on solo missions of increasing danger. However, her solitary pursuits are interrupted when a powerful Chinese artifact is stolen from Croft Manor by a thief with a personal connection to her. This sets off a high-stakes adventure that takes Lara across the globe and into forgotten tombs, where she must confront her inner self and define the kind of hero she aspires to be.

The cast of “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft” includes Allen Maldonado as Zip and Earl Baylon reprising his role as Jonah Maiava from the video game series. Additional voice actors for the series will be announced in due course.

The franchise of Tomb Raider has achieved global recognition through movies, merchandise, and comic books. This collaboration between Netflix and Legendary marks Lara Croft’s debut in an animated series, expanding the character’s reach to a new format.

Executive produced and written by Tasha Huo, known for “The Witcher: Blood Origin,” the series boasts a team of experienced producers including Dmitri M. Johnson, Timothy I. Stevenson, Jacob Robinson, Dallas Dickinson, Noah Hughes, Howard Bliss, and Jen Chambers. Powerhouse Animation is responsible for the animation, with Brad Graeber serving as an executive producer.
