SharePlay from WBD now available on Max worldwide
Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) has introduced SharePlay to Max subscribers worldwide, available on the Ad-Free and Ultimate Ad-Free tiers for adult profiles. This feature allows users to enjoy watching shows and movies on Max with friends and family through FaceTime and iMessage.
To access SharePlay on Max, users can simply click the ‘share’ button on the content details page of each title or within the FaceTime app. Up to 32 people can join a viewing session simultaneously, with all participants required to have the app downloaded on their devices.
During a SharePlay session, participants can enjoy synchronized playback controls, enabling anyone to play, pause, rewind, and fast forward. The minimum operating system versions needed for SharePlay include tvOS 15.1, iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, and visionOS 1.0.
The launch of SharePlay coincides with the release of several HBO Original series on Max. These include the latter part of the second season of House of the Dragon, the season 3 premiere of the drama series Industry on August 11th, and upcoming shows like The Penguin and Dune: Prophecy in the fall.
Sports enthusiasts can also utilize SharePlay to watch NBA, NHL, MLB games, and more with friends in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos through the B/R Sports Add-On, which is currently included with Max subscriptions for a limited time.
