Warner Bros Discovery has unveiled a range of special features for its coverage of the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris 2024, set to kick off on Wednesday. The special features will be accessible on Max, HBO Max, and discovery+ platforms, varying by region.

Among the in-app enhancements are timeline markers for 15 different sports, gold medal alerts, and the option for multi-audio feeds. Viewers can expect a total of 3,800 hours of live content, with an expected peak of 54 simultaneous live streams during the event.

The Olympic coverage is scheduled to run from July 24th until the Closing Ceremony on August 11th. Scott Young, Group SVP Content, Production, and Business Operations at WBD Sports Europe, highlighted the importance of their direct-to-consumer strategy in driving growth. He expressed excitement about expanding the Games’ coverage to a broader European audience, aiming to engage viewers with compelling content for an optimal streaming experience.

Web and mobile app users can access timeline markers for sports such as Beach Volleyball, Volleyball, Handball, Tennis, Football, Rugby Sevens, Athletics, Swimming, Track Cycling, Road Cycling, Mountain Biking, Boxing, Basketball, Judo, and Artistic Gymnastics. Additionally, in-app pop-ups will be available for both mobile and web users on Max and all platforms for discovery+ subscribers, allowing them to switch between events seamlessly for a live viewing experience.

Max users will have the option to personalize their Olympic schedule by adding specific events to “My List,” ensuring a tailored viewing experience throughout the 19-day competition. Subscribers will also benefit from multi-audio feeds offering up to 20 languages for the majority of the 329 events. Eurosport will deploy over 400 commentators across all 32 sports to provide comprehensive coverage.
