New Paramount+ Series Adds Karim Diané and Zoë Steiner to Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

Paramount+ has revealed that Karim Diané and Zoë Steiner are set to join the cast of the highly anticipated original series STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY. The upcoming show will delve into the lives of a fresh group of Starfleet cadets as they navigate the challenges of coming of age in one of the most renowned locations in the galaxy. Produced by CBS Studios, the series is slated to commence production later this summer.

Diané and Steiner are set to portray cadets in the series, alongside previously announced cadets Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, and George Hawkins. The cast also includes Holly Hunter in the role of the captain and chancellor of Starfleet Academy, as well as Paul Giamatti as the season’s antagonist.

STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY offers viewers a glimpse into the world of a young cohort of cadets who unite in pursuit of a shared aspiration of hope and positivity. Guided by their vigilant instructors, they unravel the essence of becoming Starfleet officers while navigating evolving friendships, intense rivalries, initial romances, and a novel adversary that endangers both the Academy and the Federation.

Diané, known for his roles in One Of Us Is Lying and 1266, is a talented Guinean singer and actor who kickstarted his career as a participant on The X Factor. Steiner, on the other hand, made her professional debut as Hanna in Significant Others. Hailing from Melbourne, Steiner’s passion for cinema and classic Hollywood films led her to pursue acting, culminating in training under renowned mentors and earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne.

The series is helmed by co-showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau, in addition to a lineup of executive producers including Gaia Violo, Aaron Baiers, and Olatunde Osunsanmi. The premiere episode is scripted by Gaia Violo. STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY is a collaborative effort between CBS Studios, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment, with distribution handled by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY joins the expanding STAR TREK universe on Paramount+, alongside popular titles like STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS, STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS, and STAR TREK: SECTION 31, as well as an original movie featuring Michelle Yeoh. The series promises to captivate audiences with its exploration of the formative journeys of Starfleet’s newest recruits.
