Tabu featured in latest teaser for HBO Max show ‘Dune: Prophecy’
HBO Max’s highly anticipated prequel series, “Dune: Prophecy,” has unveiled its second teaser, giving fans a glimpse of Bollywood actress Tabu in the role of Sister Francesca. The streaming platform, owned by Warner Bros Discovery, dropped the teaser on Thursday, announcing that the six-episode series is set to premiere in November this year.
Tabu, renowned for her work in global hits like “The Namesake” and “Life of Pi,” as well as the BBC miniseries “A Suitable Boy,” makes a striking appearance towards the end of the teaser, embodying the character of Sister Francesca. Described as a strong, intelligent, and captivating figure, Sister Francesca is poised to make a significant impact within the series.
The storyline of “Dune: Prophecy” unfolds 10,000 years before the events depicted in Frank Herbert’s iconic novel, “Dune,” which was recently brought to life by director Denis Villeneuve in two cinematic installments. In these films, Charlotte Rampling portrayed Reverend Mother Mohiam, the Emperor’s Bene Gesserit Truthsayer, while Rebecca Ferguson portrayed Lady Jessica, the Bene Gesserit mother of the protagonist Paul, played by Timothee Chalamet.
Based on the novel “Sisterhood of Dune” by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson, “Dune: Prophecy” was initially known as “Dune: The Sisterhood.” The series follows the narrative of two Harkonnen sisters as they navigate challenges that imperil the fate of humanity and lay the groundwork for the legendary sect that will eventually be recognized as the Bene Gesserit.
Apart from Tabu, the series features a stellar ensemble cast including Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Jessica Barden, and Shalom Brune-Franklin. Alison Schapker serves as the showrunner and executive producer alongside Diane Ademu-John, who played a pivotal role in developing the series. “Dune: Prophecy” is a collaborative effort between HBO and Legendary Television, promising viewers a captivating and immersive journey into the intricate world of “Dune.”
