Peacock Raises Prices for Premium and Premium Plus Subscriptions

WWE fans who enjoy streaming their favorite wrestling shows on Peacock are in for a change as the platform is set to increase its prices. The shift comes after a significant $1 billion deal was struck between the company and NBCUniversal in 2021, granting NBCUniversal exclusive rights to WWE’s streaming content until at least 2026. This move brought the WWE Network into the Peacock streaming service in the United States, making Peacock the go-to platform for all live WWE events on their calendar.

Separate from this agreement, WWE also inked a deal with Netflix, which will see Raw and Smackdown featured on the streaming service starting in 2025. While this new deal with Netflix won’t impact the existing partnership with Peacock, changes are on the horizon for Peacock subscribers.

Peacock has announced a price hike set to take effect this summer, with current subscribers being notified via email. The premium and premium plus plans will see a $2 increase per month starting on August 17th. Additionally, the annual plan will go up by $20, offering a slight discount for those who opt to pay yearly.

The news of the price increase for WWE fans on Peacock was not unexpected, as NBCUniversal had previously disclosed the upcoming fees in April. The rationale behind the price adjustment was to capitalize on the influx of new viewers expected to tune in during the Paris Olympics this summer.

This isn’t the first time Peacock has raised its prices, as a similar adjustment was made in 2023. While the price hike may not be met with enthusiasm from WWE fans, it reflects the evolving landscape of streaming services and the competitive nature of securing exclusive content rights.

As fans brace for the upcoming changes, the shifting streaming landscape continues to reshape how audiences consume their favorite content, with platforms vying for exclusive partnerships and offering diverse pricing structures to cater to a wide range of viewers.
