Disney+ Series Wonder Man Casts Byron Bowers from Lady in the Lake in Mystery Role
Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man is making headlines once again, debunking rumors of its cancellation and introducing new cast members to the upcoming series “Lady In The Lake.” Byron Bowers is the latest actor to join the project, set to star alongside Natalie Portman in this Alma Har’el-directed limited series. Bowers, known for his work in Showtime’s The Chi, Honey Boy, Concrete Cowboy, No Sudden Move, and Kimi, adds to the star-studded ensemble.
While details about Bowers’ character remain under wraps, speculations suggest that the “Wonder Man” project is set to expand into a standalone film franchise within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Recent set photos have revealed glimpses of the movie’s logo, hinting at the superhero chest emblem associated with the character. Notably, the imagery includes a mysterious town or city encased in a Hex, reminiscent of the Scarlet Witch’s powers in WandaVision, sparking theories of potential connections between the two Marvel properties.
In addition to Bowers and Portman, the series boasts a talented lineup, with Demetrius Grosse portraying Simon’s brother Eric Williams, also known as the Grim Reaper, and Sir Ben Kingsley reprising his role as Trevor Slattery. While rumors suggest appearances from Ed Harris, Bob Odenkirk, and Courtney Cox in cameo roles, official confirmations are pending.
Described as a “superhero satire” and a tribute to Los Angeles and the entertainment industry, Wonder Man is helmed by producers Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, aiming to capture a tone similar to popular shows like Silicon Valley, Dave, and Barry. Stella Meghie, known for her work on The Photograph, is set to direct multiple episodes, with Cretton reportedly directing the first two episodes and contributing as a writer alongside Andrew Guest, who will also serve as the showrunner.
While an official premiere date for Wonder Man is yet to be announced, fans are eagerly anticipating updates, with hopes of receiving more information during San Diego Comic-Con. Stay tuned for further developments on this exciting addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
