Byron Bowers Joins Wonder Man Cast in New MCU Series

The upcoming Disney+ series, Wonder Man, is expanding its cast with the addition of Byron Bowers. Bowers, known for his appearances in recent projects like Kimi, Irma Vep, Swarm, and the upcoming Lady in the Lake, is a comedian who has showcased his talents on popular shows such as The Eric Andre Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Developed by Destin Daniel Cretton and writer-producer Andrew Guest, Wonder Man will have Guest as the head writer, with Cretton serving as an executive producer and directing select episodes. This series is part of Cretton’s overall deal with the studio, and filmmaker Stella Meghie, known for The Photograph, will also direct multiple episodes.

Leading the Wonder Man cast is Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who will portray Simon Williams/Wonder Man. Alongside Abdul-Mateen, the cast includes Demetrius Grosse as Eric Williams/Grim Reaper, Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan, Lauren Glazier, and Josh Gad.

Wonder Man, a character introduced in 1964 in an early issue of Avengers, is one of Marvel’s oldest characters. Created by Stan Lee, Don Heck, and Jack Kirby, Simon Williams initially debuted as a supervillain who clashed with the Avengers. However, in the late 1970s, he transitioned into a hero and eventually became a member of the Avengers, possessing powers granted by Baron Zemo that include enhanced strength, speed, stamina, durability, reflexes, and agility.

The addition of Byron Bowers to the Wonder Man cast adds to the anticipation surrounding this Disney+ series. With a talented ensemble and a rich comic book history, fans can look forward to an exciting and dynamic portrayal of the iconic character.
