Peacock Adds Both Seasons of Hit Musical Drama ‘Smash’ to Streaming Collection
The popular musical drama series “Smash” has found a new home on the streaming platform Peacock. Both seasons of the show, which features stars like Debra Messing, Katharine McPhee, and Megan Hilty, are now available for viewers to enjoy, as announced by NBCUniversal.
Originally premiering on NBC in 2012, “Smash” ran for 32 episodes and garnered critical acclaim during its relatively short stint on television. The series managed to secure a Critics Choice Television Award, a GLAAD Media Award, and received five Primetime Emmy Awards nominations, with a win for Outstanding Choreography. Additionally, “Smash” also received nominations for both Golden Globe and Grammy Awards.
Apart from the main cast, the series boasted an ensemble of talented actors including Christian Borle, Jaime Cepero, Will Chase, Jack Davenport, Jennifer Hudson, Anjelica Huston, Raza Jaffrey, Brian d’Arcy James, Jeremy Jordan, Andy Mientus, Leslie Odom Jr., Krysta Rodriguez, and Uma Thurman.
Exciting news for fans emerged last year with the announcement of a stage musical adaptation of “Smash” heading to Broadway. Producers Robert Greenblatt, Neil Meron, and Steven Spielberg are behind this project, set to debut on Broadway in 2025. The stage production has attracted a top-tier creative team, with director Susan Stroman, composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, book writers Rick Elice and Bob Martin, and the TV series’ choreographer Joshua Bergasse all on board to bring the beloved show to the stage.
With its move to Peacock and the anticipation surrounding its upcoming Broadway adaptation, “Smash” continues to captivate audiences with its blend of drama, music, and talented performances. Fans of the series can now relive the magic of “Smash” on Peacock while eagerly awaiting its theatrical debut on Broadway in the coming years.
