Exciting News: Filming for Season 2 of Popular Peacock Series Starring Rian Johnson and Natasha Lyonne Underway

Writer and director Rian Johnson has been keeping busy with multiple projects on his plate. Shortly after commencing production on his third Knives Out film, officially titled Wake Up Dead Man, Johnson has now kicked off filming for the second season of Peacock’s Poker Face. This news was confirmed by Johnson himself on his Instagram story, showcasing a clapboard with the show’s title.

Poker Face, a series created by Johnson and inspired by classic murder mystery shows like Columbo and Murder, She Wrote, features Emmy Award-winning actress Natasha Lyonne as the “human lie detector” Charlie Cale. The show follows Cale as she travels across the country unraveling various eccentric mysteries. The first season of Poker Face boasted an impressive lineup of guest stars, including Benjamin Bratt, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jameela Jamil, and more.

Johnson shared his perspective on the appeal of such episodic shows, likening them more to sitcoms than traditional mystery novels. He emphasized the allure of returning each week to spend time with beloved characters and experience fresh storylines within a familiar framework.

Lyonne and Johnson are not only the creative minds behind Poker Face but also serve as executive producers alongside a team that includes Ram Bergman, Nena Rodrigue, Iain B. Macdonald, and showrunners Nora and Lila Zuckerman. Additionally, Maya Rudolph and Danielle Renfrew Behrens are co-executive producers on the project. The first season of Poker Face garnered critical acclaim, currently holding an impressive 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, leading to its early renewal for a second season.

As for the release date of Poker Face’s second season, Peacock has yet to make an official announcement, considering filming has just commenced. In the meantime, fans can catch up on the first season of Poker Face, now available for streaming exclusively on Peacock. The platform offers various subscription plans for viewers, including Premium and Premium Plus options. For students, there’s a special discounted rate for the Premium plan.

While waiting for the new season, viewers can explore other mystery series like Columbo and Murder, She Wrote, which are also available for streaming on Peacock. Poker Face’s blend of humor, suspense, and star-studded cast has solidified its place as a must-watch series for fans of the genre.
