Apple TV+ Renews Fictional Adventures of Dick Turpin

Apple TV+ has renewed the Noel Fielding-led comedy “The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin” for a second season, promising more whimsical escapades for the charming highway robber. In this series, Fielding portrays Dick Turpin, known for his charisma, showmanship, and impeccable hair, leading a group of endearing misfits through various adventures, including encounters with fame.

The show’s Season 1 featured a talented ensemble cast including Ellie White, Marc Wootton, Hugh Bonneville, Duayne Boachie, Tamsin Greig, Asim Chaudhry, Joe Wilkinson, Mark Heap, Geoff McGivern, Michael Fielding, Kiri Flaherty, Samuel Leakey, and Dolly Wells. The six-episode first season was rolled out gradually over the course of March.

Before the show’s premiere, Fielding shared with TVLine his initial struggles with comedy post-“The Mighty Boosh” era, acknowledging the creative freedom he and Julian Barratt had enjoyed with their previous work. However, the unique period setting of “Dick Turpin” provided Fielding with a fresh perspective, allowing him to explore new comedic avenues detached from his past projects.

Fielding expressed how the historical context of “Dick Turpin” liberated his creativity, offering a departure from the comparisons to “The Boosh” and enabling him to delve into a different comedic realm. The renewal of the series for a second season signifies the audience’s continued interest in the whimsical and imaginative world of Dick Turpin and his merry band of outlaws.

Fans can look forward to more entertaining and completely made-up adventures as Dick Turpin returns for another season on Apple TV+, promising laughter, charm, and perhaps a few surprises along the way.
