Apple TV+ Overtakes Paramount+ in US Market Share, Gaining Momentum

Apple TV+ has seen significant growth in the US market, with its market share increasing to 9% in the second quarter of 2024. This rise marks a one percentage point uptick from the previous quarter, where the service held an 8% share. The platform’s expanding content library, which is set to include new seasons of popular series like Severance, Silo, and Pachinko, was highlighted as a key factor in this growth, as previewed during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024.

A recent JustWatch report revealed that Apple TV+ has now surpassed Paramount+, which also holds a 9% market share. The platform is now in close competition with Hulu, which commands a 10% share, and Disney+, leading with an 11% share. Apple TV+’s original content has been performing well on streaming charts, contributing to its increasing market presence.

In the US streaming market, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix remain the top competitors, each holding a 22% share. Despite Netflix’s slight growth, Amazon Prime Video has faced challenges in maintaining its lead. Max (formerly HBO Max) follows with a 14% market share.

The JustWatch report also provided a breakdown of the US market share rankings, with Amazon Prime Video and Netflix leading at 22% each, followed by Max at 14%. Disney+ holds an 11% share, Hulu 10%, Apple TV+ 9%, Paramount+ 9%, and other platforms collectively at 3%.

Apple TV+’s upward trajectory indicates its growing influence in the competitive streaming landscape. The platform’s success in surpassing Paramount+ reflects its strategic content expansion and performance in the streaming market. As the streaming industry continues to evolve, Apple TV+ is making significant strides in capturing a larger market share and establishing itself as a prominent player in the streaming service dynamics.
