Verizon unveils new V logo amidst convergence of 5G, Fios, and streaming services
Verizon recently unveiled a fresh new look, bidding farewell to its iconic checkmark logo in favor of a vibrant red and yellow “V.” Alongside this rebranding, the telecommunications giant launched a new commercial that harks back to its famous “Can you hear me now?” slogan. In addition to these changes, Verizon introduced updated home internet plans under the name “myHome,” featuring a range of service bundles such as Disney Plus and Netflix, as well as options for cloud storage or a Walmart Plus subscription.
The new advertisement showcases the evolution of connectivity since the campaign’s inception in 2002, illustrating how Verizon’s services now cater to a multitude of activities beyond simple phone calls. From streaming videos and gaming to filming TikToks and FaceTiming, the commercial emphasizes the diverse capabilities enabled by Verizon’s network. Notably, the ad refrains from mentioning the departure of Paul Marcarelli, the original Verizon spokesperson who switched to Sprint in 2016.
As part of the myHome offerings, customers can access various services for $10 per month each, mirroring the pricing structure of Verizon’s existing myPlan packages. Looking ahead, Verizon plans to roll out Apple One bundles later in the summer, including iCloud Plus, Apple Arcade, Apple TV Plus, and Apple Music. While pricing details for these bundles have not been disclosed, the company also offers its own cloud storage service at the $10 monthly price point.
Verizon’s internet plans, predominantly 5G or LTE fixed wireless options, start at $35.99 per month for customers who sign up for phone plans and opt for autopay. The company touts impressive speeds for its 5G plans, with potential rates reaching up to 300Mbps or even a gigabit through its 5G Home Plus service. Meanwhile, LTE plans promise download speeds of up to 50Mbps, a benchmark that also applies to Verizon’s Fios plans.
In essence, Verizon’s rebranding and revamped home internet offerings signal a strategic shift towards enhancing connectivity and entertainment options for its customers.
