Star-studded cast of My Lady Jane: Where you’ve seen them before

My Lady Jane, a captivating historical drama, is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video soon, offering a fresh perspective on the life of Lady Jane Grey. The series reimagines a world where Lady Jane escapes her tragic destiny, introducing Ethians with the magical ability to transform into animals.

In the spotlight of this innovative show is Emily Bader, portraying Lady Jane Grey. This marks Bader’s first major leading role in a TV series, following her notable performance in Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin. She also appeared in the 2022 reboot of Charmed and secured a main role in the indie drama Fresh Kills, directed by Jennifer Esposito.

The show’s creators, Gemma Burgess and Meredith Glynn, shared their challenges in casting the perfect Jane until they found Emily, who coincidentally lived near Amazon Studios in Los Angeles.

Joining Bader in the cast are recognizable British actors from popular shows like The Crown and Gavin and Stacey. Edward Bluemel, known for his role in Netflix’s Sex Education, takes on the character of Lord Guildford Dudley, Jane’s reluctant husband. Bluemel has appeared in A Discovery of Witches, Killing Eve, and the Netflix film Persuasion, with upcoming projects including a TV adaptation of Washington Black and a BBC Two comedy titled We Might Regret This.

Jordan Peters portrays King Edward VI, known for his roles in The Flatshare, After Ever Happy, and Everything I Know About Love. Princess Mary, played by Kate O’Flynn, is depicted as a cunning character aiming for the throne. Dominic Cooper, recognized for his role in The History Boys, plays Lord Seymour in this intriguing series.

Anna Chancellor steps into the role of Lady Frances Grey, Jane’s mother, known for her appearances in period dramas like Poirot and Downton Abbey. Rob Brydon, famous for Gavin and Stacey and The Trip series, portrays Lord Dudley, a scheming character in the Royal court. Jim Broadbent makes a guest appearance as the Duke of Leicester, with Will Keen as the Duke of Norfolk and Henry Ashton as Lord Stan Dudley.

Máiréad Tyers plays Jane’s best friend and maid, Susanna, in a friendship that will face challenges throughout the series. The diverse and talented cast promises an engaging and entertaining portrayal of the historical characters in My Lady Jane.
