David Tennant and Aidan Turner Shine in Trailer for Hulu’s Jilly Cooper Novel Adaptation
David Tennant and Alex Hassell star as bitter rivals in the teaser trailer for an upcoming TV adaptation of Dame Jilly Cooper’s 1988 novel, set to premiere on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally later this year.
The show, titled “Rivals,” is a gripping drama set in 1980s England, showcasing the scandalous lives of the social elite. Hassell portrays Rupert Campbell-Black, an ex-Olympian and Member of Parliament known for his charm and reckless behavior. On the other side, Tennant takes on the role of Lord Tony Baddingham, a power-hungry executive at Corinium Television, locked in a fierce rivalry with Rupert.
Joining the cast is Aidan Turner as Declan O’Hara, a journalist and TV presenter entangled in the feud between Rupert and Tony. Nafessa Williams plays Cameron Cook, an American TV executive brought to England to produce Declan’s talk show. Katherine Parkinson stars as Lizzie Vereker, a romance novelist seeking love, and Bella Maclean appears as Taggie O’Hara, Declan’s daughter who catches Rupert’s eye.
The ensemble cast also includes Emily Atack, Catriona Chandler, Oliver Chris, Danny Dyer, Rufus Jones, Lisa McGrillis, Luke Pasqualino, Claire Rushbrook, and Victoria Smurfit, promising a diverse and talented lineup for this thrilling adaptation.
