Netflix’s ‘The Undervale’ Animated Series by Matt Roller and EP Dan Harmon in the Works

Netflix is set to debut a new adult animated comedy series titled “The Undervale,” created by Matt Roller, known for his work on popular series like Archer and Rick & Morty. The show will be executive produced by Dan Harmon, co-creator of Rick & Morty.

The series revolves around a single mother of two who is struggling to manage a haunted hotel with the assistance of her estranged brother, who happens to be one of the ghosts haunting the establishment. The plot takes a comedic turn as the brother believes the other ghosts have some ingenious ideas.

Roller, the mastermind behind the series, previously served as a co-executive producer on Harmon’s Fox series Krapopolis, in addition to contributing to shows such as Mr. Mayor and The Goldbergs. He will also take on the role of showrunner for “The Undervale.”

Joining Roller in the executive producer ranks are Harmon, Chris McKenna (known for Spider-Man: No Way Home), and Steve Levy (from Rick & Morty). Erica Hayes, also from Rick & Morty, will serve as the supervising director for the series.

Netflix continues to expand its animated content offerings, with “The Undervale” being the latest addition to its lineup. The streaming giant recently announced the renewal of its long-running series Big Mouth for an eighth and final season, while the spinoff Human Resources was canceled. Other animated series on Netflix include Love, Death & Robots, renewed for a fourth season, and Blue Eye Samurai, renewed for a second season. Additionally, Netflix launched Good Times last month and the second half of Mulligan earlier this month.

In a statement, Roller expressed his excitement about collaborating with Netflix and the talented team to bring the unique stories of “The Undervale” to life. Billy Wee, Netflix’s Director of Adult Animation, praised Roller and his team for their creativity and expressed anticipation for audiences worldwide to enjoy the show.

Roller is represented by CAA, Entertainment 360, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller, Gellman, Meigs & Fox.
