Netflix Greenlights ‘Undervale’ Adult Animated Series with Matt Roller and Dan Harmon as Executive Producers
Netflix has greenlit a new adult animated series titled “The Undervale.” The show hails from creator and showrunner Matt Roller. Roller most recently worked with Dan Harmon and Steve Levy on the Fox animated series “Krapopolis,” on which Roller served as a writer and co-executive producer. They also collaborated on the hit Adult Swim series “Rick and Morty” as well as Harmon’s live-action NBC series “Community.” Roller’s other credits include “Archer,” “The Goldbergs,” and “Speechless.”
The official logline for “The Undervale” states, “A single mother of two struggles to run a haunted hotel with the help of her estranged brother, who is now one of the ghosts and thinks the other ghosts have some pretty good ideas.” Along with Roller, Chris McKenna also executive produces the series along with Dan Harmon and Steve Levy. Erica Hayes is the supervising director.
“I’m thrilled to be working with Netflix and an amazingly talented cast and crew to bring to life the stories of the dead, the evil, and the struggling hospitality workers at the Undervale Hotel,” Roller said. He is repped by CAA, Entertainment 360, and Hansen Jacobson.
“’The Undervale’ is wildly inventive and I’m very grateful to Matt, Chris, Dan and their team for bringing their talents to Netflix,” said Billy Wee, Netflix director of adult animation. “They are phenomenal collaborators and I can’t wait for fans all over the world to experience this hilarious show.”
Netflix’s current adult animated offerings include the hit series “Big Mouth” as well as the recently launched “Good Times” reboot and the animated drama “Blue Eye Samurai.” The streamer previously aired shows like “BoJack Horseman,” “F Is for Family,” and “Paradise PD.”
