Netflix documentary Dancing For The Devil uncovers the chilling truth of the 7M TikTok Cult

The new three-part documentary series on Netflix, Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult, has caused a stir among viewers by shedding light on the alleged “cult-like” environment within 7M Films, a company that collaborates with TikTok dancers.

The series revolves around the Wilking Sisters, Miranda and Melanie, who gained fame on TikTok with their dance videos. Their success not only brought them a massive following but also lucrative brand deals.

In 2019, Miranda’s life took a turn when she met dancer James “BDash” Derrick, leading to a romantic involvement. Through James’s videographer, Isaiah Shinn, they were introduced to the Shekinah Church, founded by Isaiah’s father, Robert Shinn.

As the pandemic hit in 2020, Miranda’s behavior became concerning to her family, who suspected the Shekinah Church of operating like a cult. In early 2022, Melanie and her parents went public about their worries in an Instagram Live session, seeking to reconnect with Miranda.

Miranda responded to her family’s concerns, denying any coercion and asserting her freedom to make choices regarding her faith and career. The documentary, Dancing for the Devil, delves into the Wilkings’ experiences and the church’s influence on 7M Films.

Director Derek Doneen highlighted Robert Shinn’s manipulative tactics, similar to those of other cult leaders. Former 7M dancers revealed how they were exploited financially, isolated from loved ones, and subjected to strict rules, including signing NDAs.

Robert Shinn retaliated with a lawsuit against former members, alleging defamation. Subsequently, former dancers filed a cross-complaint, accusing him of fraud and human trafficking. The legal battle is ongoing, with no criminal charges yet.

Despite the turmoil, Miranda has reconnected with her family, although she avoids discussing 7M or the Shekinah Church. In a recent Instagram post, the Wilking sisters were seen dancing together, hinting at a fragile but improving relationship.

The documentary sheds light on the dark side of fame and manipulation in the entertainment industry. Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult is now available for streaming on Netflix.
