Miranda Derrick Makes Social Media Comeback Following Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult Premiere
Netflix released its latest investigative documentary, Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult on 29 May. The documentary chronicles “allegations made against a management company accused of being a religious cult.” It consists of former members who have escaped and are trying to rebuild their lives, alongside the parents of dancers who are still trapped inside the cult masquerading as a management company. This includes the parents of Miranda Derrick – Kelly and Dean Wilking – who can be heard tearfully pleading for their daughter’s return outside the company gates. Miranda has firmly denied being held against her will.
In terms of the documentary, Miranda has yet to address or acknowledge its release and has instead been posting on social media as if nothing has happened. Two days after the three-part program aired, Miranda shared a video of her and her husband, James ‘BDash’ Derrick, dancing to Sabrina Carpenter’s hit, Espresso. She captioned the post with hashtags such as #blessed, #love, and #joy.
Miranda posted another video on 1 June of her dancing in a theatre to Whitney Houston’s I’m Every Woman with Kendra ‘KO’ Willis. While Kendra wasn’t named in the documentary, she was included in a list of 7M dancers back in 2022 by The Cut. Miranda’s Instagram comments have also been limited.
The 7M influencer management company is run by Shekinah Church pastor Robert Shinn, who in the documentary is accused of “fraud, forced labor, and human trafficking,” alongside senior members of his organization. Despite the Wilking family’s efforts to remove Miranda from the company, Miranda stated, “I am not held against my will and I’ve never been a hostage.” She expressed excitement about her faith, marriage, career, and moving forward.
“Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult” is streaming on Netflix now.
