Dev Patel’s Directorial Debut “Monkey Man” Brings Action-Packed Thrills to Peacock on June 14

Dev Patel’s action-packed directorial debut, “Monkey Man,” missed in theaters, is set to make its exclusive streaming debut on Peacock on Friday, June 14. For those who prefer physical media, the film will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital starting Tuesday, June 25, complete with a range of Collector’s Edition bonus features.

The film, produced by Oscar-winning filmmaker Jordan Peele, draws inspiration from the legend of Hanuman, a simian figure known for strength and courage. Patel not only directs and produces the movie but also stars as Kid, a hardened fighter in an underground combat arena who wears a gorilla mask during bouts. Tired of being a punching bag for profit, Kid decides to take on the wealthy elite and those who wronged him in his youth. The narrative unfolds in the fictional Indian city of Yatana, influenced by the dark essence of Mumbai.

Production designer Pawas Sawatchaiyamet shared his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting Patel’s dedication to the story and vision for the film. The setting of Yatana, envisioned as a dark counterpart to Mumbai, provided a unique backdrop for the narrative, inspired by the essence of Gotham in New York City.

The cast of “Monkey Man” includes Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vipin Sharma, Sikandar Kher, and Pitobash Tripathi, who join Patel in bringing this action-packed tale to life.

The Monkey Man Collector’s Edition release on June 25 will include various bonus features such as alternate openings and endings, deleted/extended scenes, and insightful behind-the-scenes looks at the making of the film. Additionally, the release will feature commentary from the director, actors, and producers, offering viewers a deeper understanding of the creative process behind the movie.
