Bill Skarsgård Returns as Pennywise in Max’s It Prequel Series Set in Derry

Bill Skarsgård is set to reprise his role as Pennywise in the upcoming Max series, Welcome to Derry. The show will delve into the origins of the iconic character from the two recent It films. The announcement of the television series was made in February 2023, with a star-studded cast including Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, and James Remar joining Skarsgård.

The Max series, titled Welcome To Derry, expands on the world created by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the successful feature films, which grossed over $1.17 billion worldwide. The show is based on a story by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Fuchs, inspired by Stephen King’s novel It. The production is in the capable hands of executive producers Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, David Coatsworth, Skarsgård, Shelley Meals, Lee, and Lin. Fuchs and Kane are the co-showrunners, with Fuchs penning the teleplay for the first episode.

Originally scheduled for release this year, Welcome to Derry has been postponed, with a new premiere date set for 2025. Fans eagerly anticipating the series will have to wait a little longer for its arrival.
